“Leaves of three - Let it be.”

If you’re hiking anywhere in Southern California, there’s a good chance you’ll come across some poisonous plants in your travels like: poison ivy, oak, or sumac.

Here are a few remedies that relieved some of my suffering from this lovely flora.

  1. Wash with Fels-Naptha soap (available at most Ace Hardware stores).

  2. Bathe in a mix of Baking Soda and Epsom salts.

(Mix 1:1 with 1/2 of one and 1/2 of the other).

  3. Apply Caladryl® calamine lotion (Pink or Clear). Both work great.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a health practitioner, and this is not health advice. It is simply what worked for me after nearly 40 years of experience with these chance encounters.
